Vessel positions · Add-on
Know where
the ship is.
Senda puts the position of the ship carrying your shipment on the shipment itself: where it was, when, and how fast it was going, every few hours while it is at sea.
Always labelled as the ship's position, never the container's. No new tool to check, no carrier site to search.
Senda switches it on for your workspace after you add it, and emails you when ship positions start.

What lands on the shipment.
The ship, on your shipment's map
Its position, time, speed and course on the shipment's journey page, beside the milestones your team already keeps.
How old the last position is
Every position carries its time. When a ship is out of range, Senda says how long it has been instead of guessing where it went.
Progress against the plan
How far along the route the ship has come, beside the leg's due date, so a slow crossing is visible before the arrival day.
It stops on its own
Positions stop when the leg is complete. Nobody has to remember to switch anything off.
Built to use more than one source.
Ships broadcast their position over AIS, and different networks of satellites and shore stations pick it up. Coverage differs between them, mid-ocean most of all. Senda is built to work with more than one AIS data provider, asked in order, so your shipments aren't held to a single network's view of the sea.

Request a workflow reviewWhat it is, and what it isn't.
- It is the ship's position, not the container's. Senda knows which ship your container is booked on from your own records; it doesn't track the box.
- Every few hours, not continuous. A position is a moment, and Senda shows its time rather than animating the ship between moments.
- Mid-ocean coverage depends on satellite reception. When there is a gap, you see the last position and how old it is.
- No predicted arrival time. You see the leg's due date and how far the ship has come.
- Public tracking links stay milestones only. Positions are for your signed-in team.
Asked before buying.
How often does the position change?
About every six hours while the ship is at sea. Each position has its own time, Senda shows that time beside it, and the ship never glides across the map between positions as if someone were watching it.
Is it the container's location?
No. It is the position of the ship your container is booked on, taken from your shipment's records. Senda labels it that way everywhere it appears.
Where do the positions come from?
From AIS, the signal ships broadcast for safety at sea, received by satellites and shore stations and supplied to Senda by AIS data providers.
What happens in the middle of the ocean?
Where satellite reception is good, positions keep arriving. Where there is a gap, Senda shows the last position and how long ago it was, rather than drawing a guess.
Who can see it?
Your company's signed-in team, on the shipment's journey page. Public tracking links you share stay milestones only.
How do I add it, and when does it start?
Add it to Core or Operations in Settings → Billing. Senda switches it on for your workspace after you add it and emails you when ship positions start. You can remove it at any time.
