Document reading

Read trade documents without retyping them

Upload a supplier's invoice, a forwarder's bill of lading, a mill's tally sheet or a certificate. Senda reads the values and shows where each one came from on the page, so checking is a glance rather than a hunt — and a correction is recorded, not lost.

The problem

What this usually looks like today.

Retyping is the job

Hours a week spent copying numbers from PDFs into systems, and the mistakes that come with it.

Black-box extraction

Tools that return a value with no way to see where on the page it came from, so every number has to be re-checked anyway.

Every format is different

Scans, native PDFs, Word and Excel files from dozens of suppliers, each laid out their own way.

In Senda

How the work gets done instead.

  1. 1

    Upload anything

PDFs, scans, photos, Word and Excel files, attached to the order or shipment they belong to.

  2. 2

See where each value came from

Every extracted value points to its page and its place on that page, with how confident the reading was.

  3. 3

    Teach it your suppliers' layouts

For a document you see every week, mark where each field sits once, without code, and Senda reads it from there.

  4. 4

    Corrections are kept

When someone fixes a value, the correction is recorded as its own reading rather than overwriting the history.

Where it stops

What it will not do.

Worth knowing before you book anything.

  • A person confirms extracted values before they are relied on. Senda does not claim any reading is always right.
  • Document pages are counted against your plan: 500 a month on Core, 2,500 on Operations.
  • Reading a document is not filing it. Senda files nothing with any customs authority.

Questions

What people ask us.

What kinds of documents can Senda read?

Commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, tally sheets, certificates and other trade paperwork, as PDFs, scans, photos, Word or Excel files.

How do I know a value is right?

Each value shows the page and the place on that page it was read from, and how confident the reading was, so you can check it against the original in one look. Low-confidence values are the ones to look at first.

What happens to our documents?

They are stored against the order or shipment they belong to, in your workspace, with version history. Ask us in the workflow review about where they are processed and how long they are kept.
